Polish-British cooperation for the development of clean technologies

Vice-Minister Sławomir Mazurek was one of the main guests of the 2nd Polish-British Business, Trade and Investment Forum, during which he attended a meeting with Graham Stuart, Deputy Minister for Investment at the Department for International Trade. Their talks concerned, among other things, exchange of experiences in the field of implementation of green technologies.

During the bilateral meeting, Vice-Minister Mazurek declared that promoting and supporting implementation of innovative environmental technologies, as well as building a cohesive, systemic approach supporting the development, research and implementation of eco-innovations in Poland were among the priorities of the Polish government.

“High innovativeness of environmental technologies contributes to increasing competitiveness and economic growth. This improves the efficiency of the use of natural resources and reduces the negative impact of human activity on the environment,” said Vice-Minister Sławomir Mazurek.

“Eco-innovations play a particularly important role in stimulating the transition towards circular economy, curbing climate change and halting biodiversity loss,” the Vice-Minister added.

During a meeting with Deputy Minister Stuart, Vice-Minister Mazurek also congratulated the United Kingdom and Italy on the joint candidacy for the Presidency of COP26 in 2020. He also assured that Poland – a three-time host of the COP Climate Summit – would offer all its support and experience in organising this great international event.

This year’s edition of the event held in Warsaw is entitled “Building Clean Growth Together.” This is why, during the event the attendees promoted implementing innovative, green technologies. The speakers also noted the importance of stimulating clean development that helps to provide new opportunities for business in Poland and the United Kingdom.

“In order to successfully compete on international markets, the representatives of Polish businesses must exhibit pro-environmental and pro-social attitudes. This is why the Ministry of Environment held the 7th edition of the Green Evo – Green Technology Accelerator programme,” said Vice-Minister Mazurek.

During the opening speech, he also pointed out that the long-term goal of the Ministry’s activities is strengthening the role of advanced environmental protection technologies, which are crucial in the process of economic growth and building a circular economy, based on the principles of sustainable development.
