Przemysław Czarnek

Przemysław Czarnek was born on 11th of June 1977 in Koło. In 2001 he graduated from Faculty of Law, Canon Law and Administration at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin.

In 2006 he obtained an academic degree of PhD in law on the basis of doctoral thesis “The principles of the rule of law and social justice in structural practice of III. Republic of Poland”, and in 2015 obtained postdoctoral degree (doktor habilitowany) in legal sciences based on the achievements and dissertation “Economic freedom. The first pillar of the social market economy”.

He is the author of dozens of monographs and scientific articles. He specializes in the area of constitutional law.  He is the professor at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin.

In 2015-2019 he was Governor of the  Lubelskie Province (Wojewoda Lubelski). At that time, he was involved in the implementation of the structural reform of schools and institutions in the voivodeship and actively participated in the debate on the education reform.

In 2019, he obtained the mandate of a Member of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, of the 9th term (87 000 votes gained). As a Member of Parliament he was a deputy chairman of Parliamentary Justice and Human Rights Commission.

On 19th of October 2020 he was appointed Minister of Education and Science.
