The Final of the Contest ‘My PhD in 180 Seconds’ for Central Europe

On Wednesday, 15 May, the Kazimierzowski Palace at the University of Warsaw was the site of the final of the contest “My PhD in 180 Seconds” for Central Europe. NAWA was the project’s partner and the sponsor of the audience award.

My PhD in 180 Seconds

The contestants – PhD candidates from the involved countries (Poland, Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary and Austria) – had the opportunity to present their research in French, in simple words and in front of a diverse audience. Each participant had exactly three minutes to clearly, succinctly and convincingly present their topic with the aid of only one single slide. Thirteen participants, including as many as seven Poles, qualified for the final. We are very pleased to inform that the remarkably high level of the event and the engaging presentations resulted in the win of three representatives of Poland:

  • the 1st award was granted to Aleksandra Dobosz from the Institute of Metallurgy and Materials Science of the Polish Academy of Sciences,

  • the 2nd award went to Clara van Hoey from the University of Vienna,

  • the 3rd award was granted to Anna Rucińska from the Jagiellonian University.

The Audience Award, which is also the award of the Director of NAWA, was granted to Alicja Chwieduk from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań for her presentation titled: Un provocateur utile? La réception de l’œuvre de Michel Houellebecq en France et en Pologne (A Useful Provocateur? The Reception of Michel Houellebecq’s Work in France and in Poland). We congratulate all the winners.
