Secretary of State, the Government Plenipotentiary for monitoring of the implementation of the reform of higher education and science
He was born on February 17, 1960 in Proszowice (Lesser Poland). In 1987 he graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, in the field of political science. In 1995 he obtained PhD and in 2005 postdoctoral degree (doktor habilitowany). In 2013 the President of Republic of Poland awarded him the title of professor of humanities.
In 1982-83 and 1986-88 he worked as a school teacher in Proszowice. Since 1988 at the Jagiellonian University, he subsequently worked as an assistant, then as a lecturer and associate professor. In 2008 he took the position of the Director of Institute of Political Science and International Relations at the JU. In the same year he was given the post of associate professor at the JU.
The current member of the Center for Political Thought (Ośrodek Myśli Politycznej). He was the lecturer at the East European State Higher School in Przemyśl (Państwowa Wyższa Szkoła Wschodnioeuropejska), Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Krakow University (Krakowska Akademia im. A. Frycza Modrzewskiego) and Jesuit University Ignatianum in Cracow (Akademia Ignatianum). He is the author and co-author of books and scientific articles.
In 10th term Senate of the Republic of Poland he holds positions of:
• vice-chairman of Foreign and European Union Affairs Committee,
• member of Emigration Affairs and Contacts with Poles Abroad Committee.
On November 3, 2020 he was appointed the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Science and Education as well as the Government Plenipotentiary for monitoring of the implementation of the reform of higher education and science.
