Information regarding visa applications

Due to the current covid-19 epidemic situation and temporary restrictions for entering the territory of the Republic of Poland for certain categories of foreigners, the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Hong Kong currently accepts only certain types of visa applications.

For the National (D-Type) Visa – the applications are accepted only from the foreigners who can enter the territory of the Republic of Poland (as described in the regulation of the Minister for Internal Affairs and Administration dated 13 March 2020):

  1. Foreigners who are the spouses or children of Polish citizens or foreigners being under the constant care of a Polish citizen;
  2. Foreigners with a Pole’s Card (Karta Polaka);
  3. Foreigners with the right to work in the Republic of Poland (holding work permit or certificate of entry to the registry of seasonal work) who:
  • already work in Poland or
  • can produce documents testifying to the fact that they are going to take up work immediately after crossing the Polish border;
  1. Foreigners who drive a vehicle serving as a means of transport for goods or passengers – if their entry to Poland is connected with their professional occupation of driving a vehicle for transportation;
  2. Foreigners who drive a vehicle as a part of international road transport or international combined transport, who transit through the territory of the Republic of Poland by the means of transport other than the vehicle normally used by them for road transport:
  • in order to claim a rest period in the designated territory outside Poland,
  • after claiming the rest period abroad;
  1. Schoolchildren and higher education students who receive education in the Republic of Poland.

For the Schengen (C-Type) Visa – the applications are accepted only from the foreigners falling into one of the specific categories of travellers with an essential function or need as described in the Annex II for the Council Recommendation on the temporary restriction on non-essential travel into the EU and the possible lifting of such restriction. Basing on that EU regulation, the following applicants may be exempted from travel restriction and might still be eligible on visa application submission:

  1. Healthcare professionals, health researchers, and elderly care professionals;
  2. Frontier workers;
  3. Seasonal workers in agriculture;
  4. Transport personnel;
  5. Diplomats, staff of international organisations and people invited by international organisations whose physical presence is required for the well-functioning of these organisations, military personnel and humanitarian aid workers and civil protection personnel in the exercise of their functions;
  6. Passengers in transit; vii. Passengers travelling for imperative family reasons;
  7. Seafarers;
  8. Persons in need of international protection or for other humanitarian reasons;
  9. Third-country nationals travelling for the purpose of study;
  10. Highly qualified third-country workers if their employment is necessary from an economic perspective and the work cannot be postponed or performed abroad.
