Description

The aim of the project is to raise awareness of the Polish society on the risk connected with trafficking in human beings by usage of wide scope of tools adequate to different target groups Expected outcomes: 1) A public opinion poll presenting updated description of the awareness of Polish society of trafficking in human beings, including awareness raising assessment of at-risk groups. 2) An awareness-raising campaign addressed to people at risk. 3) A mobile exhibition presented throughout Poland will rise awareness of society on the risks of trafficking in human beings. 4) Film screenings for young people aged 13-18 5) The printing of the CoE’s comic strip “You’re not for sale” as a proven tool to raise awareness on the risk of THB among young people. 6) A research study and seminar on exploring demand reduction strategies for work and services provided by victims of human trafficking. 7) Lectures for students 8) Updated KCIK (National Interventional and Consultation Centre for Polish and Foreign Victims of Human Trafficking) website The Council of Europe will be responsible for implementation of: - Research study and seminar on demand reduction strategies aimed at combating THB for the purpose of labour exploitation through engagement of the private sector; - Lectures for students on THB (CoE will be responsible for selection of international experts as lecturers)

Summary of project results

The objective of the project was to improve the safety of Polish nationals with regard to trafficking through mitigation of the risk of exploitation, to raise awareness of the dangers connected with trafficking and working abroad, and to improve knowledge about such practices and how to obtain help. Within the framework of the project a public opinion poll relating to trafficking was conducted. An information campaign (media broadcasts, printing and exposition of billboards) and visual campaign targeting public transport were organised. A mobile exhibition was presented in a number of cities. The KCIK website (National Intervention and Consultation Centre) was updated. Moreover, two television spots were broadcast on regional television channels within the project. Licences were also purchased for 16 screenings of three films (48 screenings in total) that are linked to the problem of trafficking. 100 000 Council of Europe comic strips dedicated to human trafficking were also printed and lectures were given by visiting experts at universities.

Summary of bilateral results

The cooperation resulted in the exchange of good practices and assistance in preparation and implementation of information and education activities. The Council of Europe also provided the project with the comic strips.
