The Constitution of the Republic of Poland on the Polish diaspora and Poles abroad

The Constitution, which incorporates provisions for the Polish diaspora and Poles living abroad, emphasises the significance of Polish diaspora concerns in state policy.

Article 6, section 2, states that: The Republic of Poland shall provide assistance to Poles living abroad maintain their links with the national cultural heritage.

Article 52, section 5, includes the following provision: A person whose Polish origin has been confirmed in accordance with the law may settle permanently in the territory of the Republic of Poland.

Article 36, which states that during their stay abroad, a Polish citizen is entitled to protection from the Republic of Poland, applies not only to Polish citizens temporarily residing abroad but also to individuals of Polish descent living permanently abroad who have retained or regained Polish citizenship (i.e., a part of the Polish diaspora).
