Speaking also on behalf of Latvia and Lithuania, Minister Sikorski emphasised that he hoped for increased efforts against Iran, which poses a threat to both sides: to the Baltic States and Poland due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, and in the Middle East region due to the repeated negative involvement in existing conflicts.

“The recent Iranian attack has turned the world’s attention away from Ukraine, consuming also Western and regional resources that Ukraine desperately needs today. This scenario is, unfortunately, favourable to the Kremlin,” Minister Sikorski stressed during the meeting.

On the sidelines of the Forum, Minister Sikorski also held bilateral talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, and Reem Al Hashimy, the Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates.

During the conversation with his Saudi counterpart, Minister Sikorski pointed to potential new areas for strengthening bilateral cooperation with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, also based on the planned opening of a direct air link between Warsaw and Riyadh, which would significantly facilitate the development of business and tourism. The ministers also discussed the current international situation, with a particular focus on the Middle East. In conclusion, Minister Sikorski reiterated his invitation to Prince Faisal to visit Poland.

In a meeting with the UAE Secretary of State, Minister Sikorski pointed to the global consequences of the escalation of the conflict between Iran and Israel, which could change the perception of global security. The ministers also discussed the prospects for further development of bilateral relations, with particular emphasis on the development of trade and economic relations.
