Jacek Protas was appointed Secretary of State at the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy on December 19, 2023.

He is a member of the Polish Sejm of the eighth, ninth and tenth terms.

In the years 1998-2000 he worked as the principal of High School in Lidzbark Warmiński.

In the period from 2000 to 2006, he served as Staroste of Lidzbark poviat. In the years 2006-2014 he served as Marshal of Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodship In the years 2009-2015, he served as President of the Union of Voivodships of the Republic of Poland.

In the years 2007-2015 he was Poland's representative on the EU Committee of the Regions. In the years 2009-2011 he served as President of the Euroregion Baltic.

He has been Chairman of the Civic Platform (PO) in the Warmińsko-Mazurski Region since 2006.

He is a graduate of the Academy of Physical Education in Gdańsk, where he completed his master's degree and coaching studies. He completed postgraduate studies in management in public administration at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, as well as postgraduate MBA studies in Diplomacy at the Vistula University of Business and Finance in Warsaw.
