The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the challenges the PAA faces while it prepares itself for the licensing process for Poland's first nuclear power plant. One of the issues discussed was the role of independent technical support organizations (TSOs) and their impact on project implementation. The parties exchanged information on the status of projects underway in both countries, and shared their own experiences and insights with regard to, among others, the resources needed in connection with the growing interest in nuclear technologies. The meeting with the PAA President was preceded by Polish-Czech nuclear power consultations.

The Republic of Poland and the Czech Republic are parties to the Agreement on Early Notification of a Nuclear Accident and Exchange of Information on the Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Energy, Nuclear Safety and Radiological Protection, signed in Vienna on September 27, 2005.
