The Clean Energy Training Center was established as part of the Polish-American cooperation in connection with the construction of the first Polish nuclear power plant. The purpose of establishing the Center is to educate staff necessary for the development of the nuclear sector in Poland. Working with leading Polish and American research centers, the Center will conduct specialized training that will benefit a wide audience implementing or supervising nuclear projects in Poland.
The Center will contribute to the development of key competencies for nuclear safety and radiation protection in Poland. When inaugurating the Center, the President of the National Atomic Energy Agency, Andrzej Głowacki, drew attention to an important challenge facing nuclear oversight in Poland.
“In order to keep pace with the development of nuclear energy in Poland, the National Atomic Energy Agency is intensively strengthening its potential. This takes place in three main areas: personnel, equipment and knowledge. The opening of the Clean Energy Training Center is good news for the National Atomic Energy Agency, which is strengthening its potential based on educated, competent and well-trained staff.” – said the PAA President.
During the two-day inaugural session, several discussion panels are planned with the participation of Polish and American experts representing government administration, renowned research centers (including Oak Ridge National Laboratory) and nuclear regulatory authorities of both countries.
