Puolan tasavallan suurlähetystö Helsingissä osallistui Puolan sotatilan käyttöönoton 40-vuotispäivän muistotapahtumaan. Rakennuksiemme ikkunoissa sytytettiin kynttilöitä näiden tapahtumien ja uhrien muistoksi.

Vuonna 1981 sotatilan puhkeamisen jälkeen joka vuosi ikkunassa sytytetty kynttilä on puolalaisille muiston ja solidaarisuuden merkki. Kynttilä - suuren kansalaisrohkeuden osoituksena - sytytettiin monien puolalaisten talojen ikkunoissa ja myös ulkomailla.
