We are sharing articles, prepared by the Institute of New Media as part of the campaign "We are telling the World about Poland" on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the introduction of martial law in Poland.

Puolan tasavallan suurlähetystö Helsingissä osallistui Puolan sotatilan käyttöönoton 40-vuotispäivän muistotapahtumaan. Rakennuksiemme ikkunoissa sytytettiin kynttilöitä näiden tapahtumien ja uhrien muistoksi.

Vuonna 1981 sotatilan puhkeamisen jälkeen joka vuosi ikkunassa sytytetty kynttilä on puolalaisille muiston ja solidaarisuuden merkki. Kynttilä - suuren kansalaisrohkeuden osoituksena - sytytettiin monien puolalaisten talojen ikkunoissa ja myös ulkomailla.
