    The first Biennale was opened in Helsinki on June 12, in the unique surroundings of Vallisaari Island. The Helsinki Biennial takes place on Vallisaari Island in the midst of a unique natural environment, rich with culture and history. The international art event has been produced in close cooperation with cultural history professionals and nature experts. You can spot artworks on Vallisaari along a marked trail both outdoors and inside historical buildings, gunpowder cellars, and empty residential buildings. The Helsinki Biennale presents 41 international artists and art groups from Finland and around the world, including two famous Polish contemporary art artists: Paweł Althamer and Alicja Kwade.

    YK: n yleiskokous perusti World Bicycle Day:n vuonna 2018. Sen avulla suositellaan polkupyörää ekologisena ja edullisena kuljetusvälineenä. Koronaepidemian rajoitusten aikana siitä on tullut vieläkin houkuttelevampi, koska sen avulla on mahdollista matkustaa vapaasti. Pyöräily kehittää ja ylläpitää fyysistä ja henkistä terveyttä. Mielenkiintoista on se, että maailman polkupyöräpäivän perustettiin Puolan joukkueen entisen pyöräilijän, Rockvillen Montgomery Collegen sosiologian professorin Leszek Sibilskin aloitteesta.

    The Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) has announced a call for proposals under the Polish Returns NAWA Programme. The aim of the Polish Returns NAWA Programme is to allow prominent Polish scientists to return to their country and take up employment at Polish higher education institutions, scientific units or research institutes. The Programme will create optimal conditions for returning scientists to conduct world-class scientific research or developmental work in Poland. Polish higher education institutions, scientific units and research institutes will acquire specialists with international experience and knowledge in the field of the newest research trends in their scientific discipline.

    On June 2, Ambassadors of Poland and Lithuania to Finland, met Ms. Johanna Ojala-Niemelä, Chairperson of the Constitutional Committee of the Finnish Parliament, as well as Ambassador of Portugal to Finland (presiding over EU Council), to commemorate the 230th anniversary of the Constitution of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth of May 3rd and the Mutual Pledge.

    When on 3 May 1791 the Four-Year Sejm also called the Great Sejm adopted The Government Act of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth later known as the Constitution of 3 May, the Polish-Lithuanian state became the Europe’s first and the world’s second that passed the basic law. For its time, it was a progressive and bold legal act which initiated a number of reforms. It also constituted a crowning achievement of the centuries-old links between Poland and Lithuania.
