“I am glad that Krakow is hosting this important international event. Our countries are conducting many joint transport projects and we want to discuss their development openly and sincerely. I am sure that our meetings will take place in a good atmosphere,” said Andrzej Adamczyk, Minister of Infrastructure of the Republic of Poland.

Minister Adamczyk added that the topics to be discussed at the summit would include road, rail, air and water transport. He also highlighted the reason why the summit was inaugurated at the S7 expressway which is currently under construction.

“The S7 expressway is one of the roads connecting the Baltic Sea with Central and Southern Europe. Alongside the A1 motorway, S3 and S19, this expressway determines the growth possibilities and the economic potential of our entire region,” said Mr. Adamczyk. He added that the Szczepanowice-Widoma section of the S7 would be opened to traffic this autumn. He also announced that the Polish section of the Via Carpatia international road route, i.e. the entire S19 expressway, would be opened to traffic at the turn of 2026, pointing out that Hungary is the country where the construction of Via Carpathia would be completed earlier than elsewhere. He also expressed his hope and belief that the other Via Carpatia countries would smoothly complete all the procedures to enable this route to come into being.

The programme of the two-day ministerial summit includes bilateral and multilateral meetings, and the signing of a declaration of cooperation on the development of rail transport in the V4 countries.
