Polish Presidency of the Visegrad Group officially closed in Norway

On 24 June 2021, the official closing ceremony of the Polish Presidency of the Visegrad Group took place in Norway, hosted by the Polish Ambassador in Oslo.

The ceremony was attended by the Ambassadors of the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary accredited to the Kingdom of Norway, as well as Laila Stenseng from the Department of Europe and Trade at the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ambassador Iwona Woicka-Żuławska summed up the Polish Presidency of the Visegrad Group, recalling the main motto of the Presidency: “Back on track,” and three priority areas:

1. Economy and Connectivity, 2. Security, 3. Society;

as well as four Presidency objectives:

1. Strong V4 in a strong Europe – coordination of V4 activities in the EU, 2. A return to normality – fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and its consequences, 3. People-to-people contacts – strengthening integration and cohesion between V4 countries and societies, and 4. Digital V4 – e-V4 – developing V4 cooperation in the digital sector.

The Ambassador thanked her Visegrad colleagues for supporting the Polish Presidency in Norway and acknowledged the gratitude for its active conduct despite the obstacles caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

When taking over the presidency, the Hungarian Ambassador in Oslo Eszter Sandorfi presented the motto of the Hungarian presidency: “Recharging Europe,” with the following priority areas: 1) Coordination of V4 activities in the EU, 2) Opening of economies and social issues, 3) V4 cooperation with other countries, 4) Energy and digitalisation.

At the end of the ceremony, Ambassador Iwona Woicka-Żuławska presented Ambassador Eszter Sandorfi with a symbol of subsequent V4 presidencies in Norway.
