He is a physicist specialising in elementary particles, since 1971 employed with the Faculty of Physics, University of Warsaw. He has authored or co-authored about 70 scientific works. In 1987-1998 he endeavoured to connect Poland to international computer networks, was one of the founders of the Polish Internet, and managed the “Internet for Schools” project. In 1994–2011 he acted as Secretary General of the Central and Eastern European Association (CEENet) joining academic and educational networks from 24 countries. He participated in NATO and UN advisory missions to Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. As an EU expert, he took part in applications assessment and FP6 project auditing procedures, also implementing EU assistance projects in Central Asia, the Caucasus and the Balkans. In 2011–2013 he worked for the Internet Society as a coordinator of its branch offices in Europe. Since 2014 he has been employed with the National Centre for Nuclear Research in Świerk as a coordinator of international projects; he has also co-authored numerous project applications, including NOMATEN, which gave rise to an international Centre of Excellence established within the National Centre for Nuclear Research.

Awards and distinctions: Gold Cross of Merit for contributing to the development of Polish Internet (2001),  the Crystal Brussels for the effective acquisition of funds under the EU Framework Programme Horizon 2020.
