Ambassador Mariusz Maszkiewicz laid flowers at the monument to the tragically deceased President of Poland Lech Kaczyński on the 13th anniversary of the Smolensk air catastrophy.
On 10 April 2010, a plane carrying Polish President Lech Kaczyński, his wife Maria, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other Polish delegates crashed near the Russian airport in Smolensk. 96 people died. The delegation was flying to commemorate the victims of the Katyn massacre.
