On 24-26 June, the EUREF symposium - a subcommittee of the IAG - took place in Covilhã, central Portugal. The subcommittee engages in reference systems in Europe, such as the implementation, maintenance and use of ETRS89, EVRS and the EUREF Permanent Network (EPN). The meeting was co-organized by the University of Beira Interior (UBI) and the Portuguese equivalent of GUGiK - Direção-Geral do Território (DGT).

It was an opportunity to exchange experiences related to the construction of reference station systems, the implementation of national geodetic networks and to provide information on ongoing work related to the standardization and implementation of reference systems in Europe.

The Head Office of Geodesy and Cartography was represented by the Head of the Division of Basic Geodetic Networks (OP) Katarzyna Kalinczuk-Stanałowska and Aneta Mielczarczyk – the Chief Specialist in the OP Division. During the poster session, representatives of GUGiK presented a national report of the latest activities of the GUGiK in the field of geodetic works related to the modernization of the basic geodetic elevation control network and the gravimetric control network as well as the status of the ASG-EUPOS system and the RTGMS project.
