Meeting of the Spatial Information Infrastructure Council

On December 1, 2025, a meeting of the Spatial Information Infrastructure Council was held at the headquarters of the Head Office of Geodesy and Cartography (GUGiK), chaired by the new chairman, Surveyor General of Poland Andrzej Żylis.
During the meeting, the chairman presented selected activities of the GUGiK in the area of spatial information. He pointed out that the office is implementing projects financed by EU funds, such as:
• Integration of PZGIK, which aims to support county administrators and ensure full digitization of county databases;
• Smart Geoportal, which aims to expand the Geoportal, including the use of AI tools;
• Cyber-secure government – supporting the expansion of IT infrastructure,
as well as research and scientific projects such as:
• RTGMS, implemented as part of the European Space Agency program, in cooperation with the Institute of Communications, which is a response to emerging GNSS signal interference;
• Infostrateg, implemented as part of the NCBiR program, which aims to create tools based on machine learning algorithms enabling automatic detection of topographic objects.
He also presented changes and improvements to the www.geoportal.gov.pl website, including the addition of a new layer, “County Data,” which allows for quick and convenient downloading of cadastral parcel data from the entire country, a selected province, or county, as well as a new service, “NFZ Monitoring,” which provides information about the first available treatment date at a selected facility that maintains waiting lists.
The participants also discussed the IIP Council's work plan for the coming year.
During the meeting, current information on INSPIRE was also presented, along with a summary of the 15th meeting of the United Nations Global Geospatial Information Management Expert Committee (UNGGIM).
The next meeting of the IIP Council was scheduled for March 18, 2026.
