“Spatial information as the foundation of national security, economy, and administration” was the title of the Geodetic and Cartographic Service Conference organized on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Head Office of Geodesy and Cartography (GUGiK). It was attended by over 400 representatives of public administration, the scientific community, contractors and entrepreneurs in the field of geodesy, as well as the Geodesy and Cartography Service from all over Poland. Former Surveyors General of Poland participated in the meeting as special guests and were honored with commemorative statuettes.

The inaugural lecture was given by Dr hab. inż. Andrzej Araszkiewicz, professor at the Military University of Technology, who spoke about natural GNSS signal disturbances resulting in particular from increased solar activity or ionospheric disturbances.

During the conference, representatives of institutions working closely with GUGiK – the Ministry of National Defence Republic of Poland, the National Police Headquarters, the Border Guard Headquarters, the State Water Management Authority, and the General Building Control Office – presented how they use the data and services provided by the Head Office of Geodesy and Cartography.

Those who gathered at the conference had the opportunity to listen to presentations of the works awarded in the competition for the best use of data from the State Geodetic and Cartographic Resource and services provided by GUGiK in 2022-2025.

Representatives of the office, including Surveyor General of Poland Andrzej Żylis and Deputy Surveyor General of Poland Dr inż. Anna Bober, spoke about the projects implemented by the office and plans for the future.

The conference was broadcast on the GUGiK YouTube channel.
