12.04.2026
On April 2, 2026, at the Secretariat of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Jakarta, the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland, Ms. Barbara Szymanowska, presented her letters of credence to the Secretary-General of the organization, Mr. Kao Kim Hourn.
The Secretary-General of ASEAN congratulated the Ambassador on assuming her position and declared readiness for close cooperation with Poland to further develop relations. He emphasized the importance of collaboration in areas such as education, the digital economy, green transformation, tourism, as well as trade and investment.
Ambassador Szymanowska highlighted the growing importance of ASEAN in Poland’s foreign policy and confirmed Poland’s readiness to sign the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC) in 2026, during the Philippines’ ASEAN chairmanship. She also noted that Poland’s engagement in the region is reflected both in its extensive diplomatic presence and in the implementation of development assistance projects—including in countries where Poland does not maintain diplomatic missions.
