State of Emergency in Timor Leste

The Embassy kindly inform that Goverment of Timor Leste implemented the State of Emergency for period 30 days, starting from 12:00 a.m 5 October utill 11:59 p.m. 3 November. The Government has approved a Decree Law No. 13/2020, dated 3 October 2020, enforcing measures to prevent, control, and mitigate COVID-19 transmission in Timor-Leste. The Embassy would like to inform that all persons who intend to enter or leave the national territory will be subject to sanitary control, under the terms of the Intrnational Sanitary Regulation. Furthermore, the entry of foreigners into the national territory through land border posts is subject to prior authorization given by the Ministry of Forcign Affairs and Cooperation. Individuals entering national territory disrespecting the provisions above will be subject to a fine up to USD 250 to support the resulting expenses from the isolation. Those who present symptoms of COVID-I9, including a fever greater than 37.5° C, cough and/or breathing difficulties will be banned to use public transport, bourd on ship or aireraft and must complete the Mandatory Medical Declaration form and will be taken to a bunksh facility to perform diagnostic tests for COVID-19. Positive cases will be subject to therapeutic isolation.
