The Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Erbil is recruiting a dynamic, pro-active, detail-oriented Consular officer/Translator. You will be part of a visa team at our Erbil office with few other dedicated, professional colleagues. The main tasks are handling of Schengen and National visa applications for the Republic of Poland and Schengen visa applications for Latvia.

JOB OFFER: Consular Officer/Translator at the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Erbil
 

Main tasks and responsibilities 
 
•    Pre-examination of the Schengen visa applications and the related documentation.
•    Translation tasks. 
•    Registering applications in the relevant IT systems.
•    Contact with clients. 
•    Answering phone calls and providing high service and guidance regarding visa issues.
•    Conducting written correspondence with applicants and other members of the public in Kurdish/Arabic/English (assigned). 
•    Organizing documents. 
•    Assistance in acquiring information, data and statistics regarding consular matters in Iraqi Kurdistan Region and Republic of Iraq.
•    Acting as a consular assistant, following supervisor’s directives.

Competence, qualifications and work experience 
 
•    The working language of the Consulate is English. The tasks in the visa section for applications from Iraq/Kurdistan Region requires Arabic and Kurdish. Therefore, fluency in written and spoken Arabic/Kurdish and English is a necessity. Selected candidates might undergo testing in order to assess language level.
•    Graduates with a higher educational degree.
•    The job requires administrative skills or qualifications. 
•    Experience: min. 2 years of related experience or proof of traineeship in a recognised organisation.  
•    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
•    Extremely detail-oriented and with perfect follow-up skills. 
•    A good sense of cooperation, organisation and personal responsibility. Ability to work under time pressure.
•    Ability to work and cooperate in multi-cultural environment.
•    Ability to organize tasks, research, keep records, enter data, draft relevant letters, and other documents. 
•    A high degree of integrity and a commitment to customer service. 
•    High computer skills. 
•    Highly dependable and trustworthy. 
•    A strong sense of responsibility, thoroughness and compliance.
•    Clean criminal record is a pre-requisite.

Employment conditions

•    Official full-time employment with the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Erbil.
•    Full employment will be preceded by a three-month trial period.
•    We offer a 40-hour working week, 5 days a week, Sunday do Thursday.
•    The employment salary will be in accordance with the salary scale for locally employed staff at the Consulate. An additional allowance will be added based on qualifications, experience and the overall assessment of the work after the three-month trial period. 
•    The position includes 20 paid vacation days per year. Polish and Kurdish/Iraqi public holidays are additional to this.
