Poland in Libya

On October 20 ended the final auditions of the 18th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition. On October 21 at 7:00 p.m. CEST at the Grand Theatre – National Opera the Gala Award Concert and First Concert of prizewinners’ of the Competition took place. On October 22 we could watch and listen to the second prizewinners’ concert that started with the ceremony of presenting the additional prizes by their funders. On October 23 at the Concert Hall of the National Philharmonic all 8 winners of the main prizes in the Competition gave their performances once again. The 18th Chopin Competition went down in history.

There are two poles of fast economic growth in the European Union – Ireland in the West and the twelve countries of the Three Seas Initiative whose economies have grown by 2.8% per annum since they joined the EU. International investors are yet to use the full potential of that rapid pace of development in the region.

As the world is slowly recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, it is entering an era of uncertainty. Faced with new threats and challenges, we need a fresh perspective on geopolitical realities. It is the strength of national economies that will ultimately ensure citizens’ security.

Over the last 30 years, the Warsaw Stock Exchange has witnessed and participated in the process of rebuilding the capital market in the centre of Europe. Its opening session in 1991 in the former headquarters of the communist party symbolised the rejection of communism in favour of the capitalist economy.

From October 2nd to 23rd, 2021, the 18th Chopin Competition will be held in Warsaw.

Poland is one of those countries that have suffered the greatest losses in the course of the 20th century. 6 million Poles were killed during WW2. As compensation for its Eastern Borderlands, Poland was given the ruined regions of Silesia and Pomerania.

We want to tell you about the extraordinary history of Poland, a country that has not only suffered as few other countries have, but also knew how to use the experience as a source of strength to fight for the most universal human value – freedom.

In his book "The Prince", Niccolò Machiavelli mentions a certain rule of history. He writes, not without a touch of irony, that “all armed prophets have conquered, and the unarmed ones have been destroyed.” But to every rule there is an exception, and unarmed prophets have been vindicated by history more than once. Even though the vindication usually comes late, it is no less emphatic. A perfect example of that is the historic victory of the Polish Solidarity movement and its extraordinary “Appeal to the Working People of Eastern Europe” proclaimed 40 years ago.
