25.04.2025

On April 23, 2025, during the 17th European Economic Congress, a discussion panel titled "A Digital Map for Poland" was held, featuring representatives from public administration, technology companies, and the media. The conversation focused on the key challenges and priorities of Poland's digital transformation in the coming years. Among the panelists was Krzysztof Szubert, Plenipotentiary of the Director of the National Institute of Telecommunications for Commercialization and International Cooperation.

The discussion centered around four main themes: infrastructure, artificial intelligence, digital security, and the role of cooperation between the public and private sectors.

Experts unanimously emphasized that digital infrastructure – including the development of 5G networks, fiber optics, and data centers – forms the backbone of continued digitalization. Attention was drawn to the need for streamlining investment procedures and increasing funding for modernization efforts.

Artificial intelligence was identified as Poland’s greatest opportunity for a qualitative digital leap. Speakers highlighted the vast potential of Polish specialists and the need for widespread adoption of AI solutions across both the public and private sectors. Raising digital skills within society and supporting Polish tech initiatives were seen as crucial.

An important part of the debate also addressed digital sovereignty and cybersecurity – covering both data and state systems. Government representatives expressed their readiness to create open and rational regulations that take into account the needs of various market participants.

The panel concluded with a joint call for collaboration and the development of a coherent, cross-sectoral digitalization strategy. As emphasized, only coordinated efforts from government institutions, businesses, academia, and the media will allow Poland to fully harness the potential of digital transformation and secure a lasting position among Europe’s leading digital economies.

Alongside Krzysztof Szubert, the panel featured representatives from telecommunications, technology, and media companies, as well as the Ministry of Digital Affairs.
