EEC Is behind us. The National Institute of Telecommunications at the European Economic Congress 2026

24.04.2026

The European Economic Congress 2026 in Katowice was a time of intensive discussions, important debates, and a strong expert presence for the National Institute of Telecommunications (NIT). Throughout the event, our stand attracted numerous guests: representatives of public administration, business, academia, and the new technology sector. It was a space for conversations about digitalisation, infrastructure, cybersecurity, telecommunications, and the role of the state in building a modern economy based on data and AI.

Representatives of the Institute’s management were at the centre of events. Director Anna Streżyńska took part in the panel “The Telecommunications Market in Poland and Europe”, during which it was emphasised that telecommunications is no longer merely an infrastructure service — today it is the foundation of state security, economic development, and the competitiveness of Europe as a whole. The debate showed that investment in networks, infrastructure resilience, and technological sovereignty are becoming key elements of state policy.

Krzysztof Szubert, Director’s Plenipotentiary for Commercialisation and International Cooperation, was one of the panellists in the debate “Infrastructure for Digitalisation — AI Factories”, which focused on Poland’s real chances of participating in the construction of European AI Gigafactories and on models for financing this infrastructure.

An important moment of the congress was the fireside chat with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs Krzysztof Gawkowski, during which, while discussing the challenges of digitalisation, he presented a report prepared by the National Institute of Telecommunications – NIT on the development of AI and digital infrastructure. The very fact that the Institute’s report became part of such an important strategic debate shows that NIT’s expert work is now genuinely influencing the directions of the country’s development — not only in the analytical background, but at the very centre of decisions concerning Poland’s technological future.

The European Economic Congress 2026 confirmed that the National Institute of Telecommunications – NIT is becoming an active participant in the most important discussions about the future of Poland and Europe. Because today, technology is the nervous system of the entire economy.
