Elżbieta Andrukiewicz receives the "Normalization Compass" award

On May 20, 2025, Elżbieta Andrukiewicz, DSc from the National Institute of Telecommunications received the "Normalization Compass" - an award granted by the President of the Polish Committee for Standardization (PKN). The distinction was presented during a conference organized by PKN to celebrate Polish Standardization Day.

The President of PKN’s “Normalization Compass” award has been granted since 2015. Its purpose is to honor individuals and institutions in recognition of their achievements in supporting standardization, including: outstanding accomplishments and contributions to Polish standardization, promotion of the voluntary standardization system, significant efforts in promoting pro-standardization attitudes within society, and exceptional activity in the standard development process.

This year’s distinctions were awarded during the conference titled “The Future of Security: Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Threats, and Information Management. Standardization in the Face of New Challenges”, held in Warsaw by PKN to mark Polish Standardization Day on May 20. Elżbieta Andrukiewicz received the award from PKN President Ewa Zielińska.

Elżbieta Andrukiewicz, DSc has been an editor of international standards in the field of cybersecurity for many years. She contributed to the development of significant standards such as EN ISO/IEC 27005:2022 “Guidance on managing information security” (all four editions since 2008), and PN-EN ISO/IEC 15408-1:2022 “Evaluation criteria for IT security Part 1: Introduction and general model.”

She is also actively involved in European standardization. She co-edited the EN 17640:2022 “Fixed-time cybersecurity evaluation methodology” and is currently working on the first amendment to this standard. On March 26, 2025, the EN 18037:2025 “Guidelines on sectoral cybersecurity assessment”, for which she served as editor, was published.

Elżbieta Andrukiewicz is a member of expert bodies within the Polish Committee for Standardization. She has been Chair of Technical Committee No. 182 “Information Protection in ICT Systems” continuously since 2007, and Chair of the Telecommunications and IT Sector Council since 2015. She actively supports the development of the Polish Standards system in the field of cybersecurity, significantly aiding the implementation of EU and national regulations by Polish enterprises.

She also serves as head of the Polish delegation to the plenary meetings of ISO/IEC JTC1/SC27 “Information security, cybersecurity and data privacy” and CEN/CLC/JTC13 “Cybersecurity and data protection.” She is the author of publications and has spoken at both domestic and international conferences on standardization.

On a daily basis, she heads the IT Security Evaluation Facility (ITSEF) at the National Institute of Telecommunications.
