On March 12, 2025, the European Cybersecurity Certification Conference was held at the Copernicus Science Centre in Warsaw. The event was organized by the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA). It brought together leading European experts in the field of cybersecurity certification and was one of the meetings organized under the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
One of the panelists in the session titled "Lifecycle of Certification: From Feasibility Study to the First Worldwide Recognized EU Certificate" was Piotr Krawiec, DSc, Technical Manager of the IT Security Evaluation Facility (ITSEF). The panel, dedicated to the first European certification scheme—EUCC—gathered representatives of key stakeholders involved in the system, including manufacturers, supervisory authorities, and certification bodies.
Representing ITSEF, Piotr Krawiec shared insights from the process of obtaining accredited laboratory status under the EUCC scheme. He also discussed in detail the successive stages of the Laboratory’s multi-year efforts that led to this achievement.
ITSEF is one of the few laboratories worldwide officially accredited to perform evaluations in accordance with the international Common Criteria and Common Evaluation Methodology standards, which form the basis for assessing the security of IT products.
