International seminar with the participation of our expert
03.12.2025
On December 3, 2025, the international seminar "Smart Maritime Future in the Baltic Sea Region” was held at the Royal Danish Library in Copenhagen. The event focused on the future of safe and efficient navigation in the Baltic Sea.
The seminar brought together experts from across the region to discuss the implementation of solutions based on the IMO e‑navigation strategy, including service interoperability, the digitalization of shipping routes, and alternative positioning systems.
The event was organized as part of three projects co-financed by the Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme (2021–2027):
- ORMOBASS – development of the R‑Mode system and GNSS interference detection,
- MaDaMe – pilot implementation of digital services for shipping,
- Baltic Sea e‑Nav – harmonization of S‑100-compliant products in the region.
The program featured project presentations, panel discussions, and thematic workshops. A highlight was the session “ORMOBASS: Safe navigation despite GNSS interference”, where one of the speakers was Krzysztof Bronk, PhD, Head of the Wireless Systems and Networks Department at the National Institute of Telecommunications in Gdańsk.
Dr. Bronk presented key aspects of navigation safety under GNSS signal interference, discussing the role of alternative positioning technologies and the importance of interference detection systems in ensuring continuity of location services in the Baltic Sea region.
The event concluded with a series of technology demonstrations, including the presentation of interoperability between S‑124 and S‑125 services and prototypes of R‑Mode system devices. The seminar confirmed that international cooperation and innovative digital solutions are the foundation of a smart and safe maritime future in the region.
