Professor Anastase Shyaka, Ambassador of the Republic of Rwanda to Poland, visited the National Institute of Telecommunications. Although initially an introductory meeting, the visit quickly evolved into a substantive discussion about potential cooperation at the intersection of technology, knowledge, and development.
Professor Anastase Shyaka met with Director Anna Streżyńska, Deputy Director for Development and Communication Wojciech Kamieniecki, and Krzysztof Szubert, the Director’s Plenipotentiary for Commercialization and International Cooperation at NIT-SRI.
The main objective of the meeting was to present the Institute’s potential, which has played a key role in the development of the telecommunications and information technology sectors in Poland for decades. The Ambassador expressed great interest in the Institute’s competencies, ranging from research and development activities and the implementation of advanced commercial projects to training and expert support services.
- Topics discussed during the meeting included:
- Cybersecurity and support services for public and private institutions,
- Implementation and development of mobile networks, including 5G infrastructure,
- Construction and maintenance of complex IT systems,
- Organization and delivery of specialist ICT training,
- Use of modern communication tools, such as Starlink satellite systems, which enable connectivity even under the most challenging conditions.
The Ambassador was particularly interested in the Institute’s experience in areas crucial for digital transformation—both in terms of infrastructure and skills development. Both parties agreed that the potential for cooperation is significant, especially considering Rwanda’s long-term commitment to technological advancement and digital social inclusion.
As Anna Streżyńska emphasized, “The National Institute of Telecommunications possesses not only technological facilities but also practical experience in carrying out projects at the intersection of science, administration, and the market. We share knowledge that can serve as a real development impulse for our partners not only in Poland but also around the world.”
The meeting concluded with a declaration of continued dialogue and a willingness to jointly define concrete directions for cooperation that could support the development of Rwanda's digital economy and information security.
