Study: latest communication technologies for intelligent transportation systems
22.12.2025
A new publication entitled "Communication Technologies for Intelligent Transportation Systems: From Railways to UAVs and Beyond” has just been released on the website of the quarterly journal Journal of Telecommunications and Information Technology, published by the National Institute of Telecommunications.
This extensive, over 100-page, review study provides a comprehensive analysis of state-of-the-art communication technologies supporting modern and future information and communication technologies (ICT).
Its main objective is to develop a shared understanding of how communication solutions enable automation, safety, and efficiency across multiple transportation domains, including railways, road vehicles, aircraft, and unmanned aerial vehicles. The publication also assesses the limitations of current systems and proposes pathways for integrating new technologies such as 5G, sixth-generation (6G) networks, and artificial intelligence (AI)-based network control.
The publication was prepared within the framework of the COST Association – European Cooperation in Science and Technology, Action CA20120 “The Intelligence-Enabling Radio Communications for Seamless Inclusive Interactions (INTERACT)”.
We invite you to read it on the journal's website.
