Poland in NATO

During the ceremony on February 5 in the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Poland to NATO, Ambassador Szatkowski presented Mr. Michael Rozic with the Gold Polish Army Medal for his contribution to strengthening the defense capabilities of NATO's eastern flank.

On 3 February, Ambassador Tomasz Szatkowski presented Permanent Representative of the Republic of Lithuania to NATO Ambassador Vytautas Leškevičius with the “Bene Merito” honorary distinction in appreciation for strengthening Polish-Lithuanian security cooperation.

On January 27, Ambassador Tomasz Szatkowski took part in the ceremony of unveiling of the renovated memorial plaque in honor of American soldiers who liberated the Hohenfels camp in 1945. The monument was erected by former prisoners of German Nazi concentration camps.

Throughout the history the Alliance proved to be successful in adapting to emerging challenges, however, we must ensure we remain forward-looking and proactive in addressing future challenges - said Poland’s Permanent Representative to NATO Tomasz Szatkowski in his opening remarks.

“The transatlantic ties are key to NATO’s credibility and strength. At the same time, we should develop the European defence capabilities, because we agree that the European allies can contribute to collective security in a better way,” said Minister Czaputowicz at a meeting of NATO’s ministers of foreign affairs.

On October 18, Ambassador Tomasz Szatkowski and Lieutenant General Janusz Adamczak met with General Erhard Bühler, commander of one of the Allied Joint Force Commands (JFC) and took part in a briefing on the priority tasks of JFC Brunssum.

Poland is concerned with the launch of Turkish armed forces operation in the northeastern Syria. We are afraid that this may negatively impact the stability of the region, the UN-led attempts to find a peaceful resolution to the Syrian conflict and contribute to further deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the region.

On October 3-4, the North Atlantic Council paid a visit to Batumi, where a series of NATO-Georgia Commission meetings took place.
