Poland in NATO

On 29-30 November 2022, the head of Polish diplomacy Zbigniew Rau took part in NATO Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Bucharest. It was the first time when all sessions were also attended by the Foreign Ministers of Finland and Sweden, the two countries invited to join the Alliance.

On November 10th, the Polish Delegation to NATO together with the Polish Institute in Brussels and the Polish Military Representation to Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) as well as the War Studies University in Warsaw organized a debate on the current security situation on NATO's Eastern flank in relation to the war in Ukraine. The event was held at SHAPE, Mons.

On October 27, 2022, the Head of the Foreign Service Arkady Rzegocki met with representatives of the NATO International Secretariat responsible for human resources, training and fight against disinformation.

The Deputy Permanent Representative of the Republic of Poland to NATO took part in the ceremonies commemorating 257 Polish soldiers who died liberating Flanders in 1944.

Deputy Minister Marcin Przydacz deposited at the US Department of State the instruments of ratification expressing Poland's consent to Sweden and Finland joining NATO.

On June 28-30 a meeting of the heads of state and government of the North Atlantic Alliance was held in Madrid. The Polish delegation was chaired by the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda.

On June 2, the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Poland to NATO together with the European Cybersecurity Forum CYBERSEC organized a seminar entitled "Cyber defence and emerging and disruptive technologies in times of Russian aggression against Ukraine.”

On Thursday, May 5, at the Military Art Academy, Minister Mariusz Błaszczak, NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoană and General Phillippe Lavignem, Supreme Commander of Allied Forces for Transformation (NATO SACT) opened the 2022 NATO Resilience Symposium.

Between 1 and 27 May exercises DEFENDER EUROPE 2022 (DE22) and SWIFT RESPONSE 2022 (SR22) with participation of Polish soldiers will be conducted on the territory of Poland and 8 other countries. There will be approximately 18 000 participants from over 20 countries training together in both exercises. The portion of the exercises on Polish soil will see some 7 000 troops and 3 000 pieces of equipment.

Andrzej Duda travelled to Ukraine on Wednesday with the presidents of the Baltic states to meet Volodymyr Zelenski in a demonstration of support for the Ukrainian president and his country.
