Poland in NATO

On January 27, a commemoration ceremony was held at NATO Headquarters to mark the International Holocaust Remembrance Day and the 78th anniversary of the liberation of Nazi German concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, co-organized by the Permanent Representations of Poland and Italy to NATO. The partners of this year's event were the World Jewish Congress and the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is disappointed to learn that legal proceedings against Andrzej Poczobut were initiated on 16 January 2023 before a Belarusian court. Andrzej Poczobut has been provisionally detained since March 2021 on false and politically motivated charges.

On December 8, 2022, Ambassador Tomasz Szatkowski, on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, presented Ms. Izabela Albrycht with the Bene Merito Badge of Honor for activities strengthening Poland's position on the international arena.

Report "Country's systemic resilience in the digital era" was presented on December 8th at NATO Headquarters by representatives of the Kosciuszko Institute, the European Cybersecurity Forum and the Government Center for Security.

On 29-30 November 2022, the head of Polish diplomacy Zbigniew Rau took part in NATO Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Bucharest. It was the first time when all sessions were also attended by the Foreign Ministers of Finland and Sweden, the two countries invited to join the Alliance.

On November 10th, the Polish Delegation to NATO together with the Polish Institute in Brussels and the Polish Military Representation to Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) as well as the War Studies University in Warsaw organized a debate on the current security situation on NATO’s Eastern flank in relation to the war in Ukraine. The event was held at SHAPE, Mons.

On October 27, 2022, the Head of the Foreign Service Arkady Rzegocki met with representatives of the NATO International Secretariat responsible for human resources, training and fight against disinformation.

The Deputy Permanent Representative of the Republic of Poland to NATO took part in the ceremonies commemorating 257 Polish soldiers who died liberating Flanders in 1944.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemns the months-long operation orchestrated by Belarusian usurper authorities and targeting Polish historical memory in Belarus. In another yet particularly appalling manifestation of Minsk’s policy to distort history in the west of Belarus, a cemetery of Polish Home Army’s soldiers in Surkonty was barbarically demolished in the morning of 25 August.

Deputy Minister Marcin Przydacz deposited at the US Department of State the instruments of ratification expressing Poland’s consent to Sweden and Finland joining NATO.
