Poland in the OSCE

The OSCE Chairman-in-Office and Foreign Minister of Poland Zbigniew Rau has concluded his visit to Ukraine today. He highlighted the significance of taking specific steps to solve the crisis in and around that country in line with both international law and the principles and commitments of the OSCE.

The OSCE Chairman-in-Office and Foreign Minister of Poland, Zbigniew Rau, and OSCE Secretary General Schmid made the following statement after the adoption in first reading of the Draft Law on Republika Srpska’s High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council by the Republika Srpska National Assembly.

Zbigniew Rau, Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs and OSCE Chairman-in-Office, will travel to Ukraine today on what will be his first official visit to the country.

Deputy Minister Marcin Przydacz joined a phone conversation organised by US Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman with the participation of NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoană, Secretary General of the European External Action Service Stefano Sannino and OSCE Secretary General Helga Schmid.

On 8 February, Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau as Chairman-in-Office of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) inaugurated Poland’s Renewed European Security Dialogue initiative. Its launch, along with U.S.-Russia bilateral talks and dialogue at the NATO-Russia Council, marks an important step intended to defuse the currently tense security situation and work out ways to prevent similar ones in the future.

A two-day conference at the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews under the auspices of Poland’s Chairmanship of the OSCE in 2022 gathered together OSCE leaders and several hundred online and in-person participants to discuss more effective ways of combating anti-Semitism, xenophobia, and discrimination. The event was preceded by a wreath-laying ceremony at the Monument to the Ghetto Heroes.

On 8 February 2022, Minister Zbigniew Rau will pay a visit to Vienna to take part in a high-level meeting that will inaugurate the Renewed OSCE European Security Dialogue, conducted under the auspices of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe.

Foreign Minister Rau spoke on the phone with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, and EU High Representative Josep Borrell.

As the current Chairman-in-Office of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, Minister Zbigniew Rau highlighted the importance Poland will attach to supporting populations that suffer the consequences of crises and armed conflicts on a daily basis.

On behalf of Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau, who is the OSCE current Chairman-in-Office, Minister of National Defence Mariusz Błaszczak held a joint phone conversation with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, and High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell.
