Poland in the OSCE

On 1 January 2020 Albania assumed the Chairmanship of the OSCE. “Taking over the OSCE Chair is a truly historic moment for Albania: from a country under a cruel communist regime that opposed the Helsinki spirit, we have become one honored to lead this organization. Chairing the OSCE marks the highlight of our significant transformation,” said Prime Minister and Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Edi Rama today as he assumed the post of Chairperson-in-Office of the regional security organization.

During the Bratislava Ministerial Council of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the participating states entrusted Poland with the Organisation’s Chairmanship in 2022.

“The seat of ODIHR in Warsaw is a symbolic recognition of our country’s pioneership with regard to restoring freedom, respect for human rights and democratic order in Europe,” Minister Jacek Czaputowicz said during the opening session of the OSCE Human Dimension Implementation Meeting in Warsaw.

“Ensuring safety and security of persons belonging to religious minorities is a major challenge facing the international community. I believe that our today’s discussions will help us develop necessary guidelines on the promotion of religious freedom and the protection of religious minorities,” emphasised Minister Jacek Czaputowicz at an open meeting of the UN Security Council on the safety and security of religious minorities in armed conflict.

“Real progress in addressing Europe’s security challenges is only possible if all countries return to respecting the fundamental principles of international law,” Deputy Minister Marcin Przydacz emphasised at an OSCE ministerial meeting in Vysoke Tatry, Slovakia.

On 17-18.06. the annual OSCE conference on cyber security took place in Bratislava. The conference was organized by the OSCE Slovak Chairmanship and the Department of Transnational Threats of the OSCE Secretariat. The main topic this year was the role of the OSCE in developing regional cooperation in the field of cyber security.
