Poland in the OSCE

Promoting security and stability through sustainable economic recovery following the COVID-19 pandemic was the focus of the Second Preparatory Meeting of the 30th OSCE Economic and Environmental Forum held on 23 and 24 May in Łódź, Poland.

On 23-24 May 2022, Łódź will host the Second Preparatory Meeting of the 30th OSCE Economic and Environmental Forum. The main topic of the forum will be “Promoting security and stability in the OSCE area through sustainable economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic”. The opening session of the event will be attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs Zbigniew Rau and OSCE Secretary General Helga Schmid.

On 5 May, the National Stadium in Warsaw hosted an International Donors’ Conference, organised on the initiative of Poland’s Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Sweden’s Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson and attended either in person or online by heads of states and governments of 21 countries, humanitarian organisations, financial institutions as well as representatives of the global business community.

Rabbi Andrew Baker, Personal Representative of the Chairperson-in-Office on Combating Anti-Semitism, Associate Professor Dr. Regina Polak, Personal Representative on Combating Racism, Xenophobia and Discrimination, also focusing on Intolerance and Discrimination against Christians and Members of Other Religions and Mehmet Paçacı, Personal Representative on Combating Intolerance and Discrimination against Muslims made the following statement:

Following recent developments in Transdniestria, the Special Envoy of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Ambassador Artur Dmochowski and the Special Representative of the Polish OSCE Chairman-in-Office for the Transdniestrian Settlement Process, Ambassador Thomas Mayr-Harting, have concluded a two-day visit to the Republic of Moldova to convey the CiO's message of strong support for the stabilization of the situation in the country, peaceful, based on results-oriented dialogue solution of existing problems, and to assess the risks for the security situation in the region.

OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Foreign Minister of Poland Zbigniew Rau and OSCE Secretary General Helga Maria Schmid have today announced that the OSCE would take immediate steps to implement the closure of the Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine.

OSCE Chairman-in-Office and Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Zbigniew Rau, and OSCE Secretary General Helga Maria Schmid call for the release of four national members of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine detained in in non-government-controlled areas of Donetsk and Luhansk.

As the Russian military attack against Ukraine continues, we mourn the victims of war and lament the millions forced to leave their homes and their country behind, seeking shelter and safety within Ukraine, in Europe and beyond. Children, women and the elderly are particularly vulnerable. Many victims of the war suffer from profound psychological trauma.

On 11 and 12 April 2022, the Personal Representatives of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office for tolerance issues held meetings with representatives of the Council of Europe, the Commissioner for Human Rights, the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance, and the Committee on Equality and Non-Discrimination of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly.

The Foreign Ministers of Poland, Sweden, and North Macedonia, representing the OSCE Troika met with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba in Rzeszow, the Podkarpacie Region, Poland.
