On February 11, 2026, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pakistan hosted an event, co-organized with the Embassy of Ukraine in Pakistan and the Delegation of the European Union to Pakistan, to commemorate the fourth anniversary of Russia’s unprovoked and unjustified full-scale invasion of Ukraine, launched on February 24, 2022.
H.E. the Ambassador of Poland, Mr. Maciej Pisarski, expressed unwavering support for the Ukrainian people and their steadfast resistance and perseverance in defending freedom and human dignity. He emphasized that Ukraine continues to resist Russia’s invasion, which constitutes a modern-day colonial war against a sovereign nation. The Ambassador stressed the urgency of achieving a just and lasting peace in Ukraine in accordance with the principles enshrined in the UN Charter. He also reaffirmed Poland’s continued military and non-military assistance to Ukraine, aimed at strengthening its negotiating position and ensuring that Russia’s strategic objectives are not achieved.
H.E. the Ambassador of Ukraine, Mr. Markian Chuchuk, stated that Ukraine continues to defend its freedom and independence in full accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter. He noted that Russia’s illegal war of aggression against Ukraine has now lasted longer than the war fought between the fascist and communist regimes from 1941 to 1945. He further noted that Russia’s casualties, including those killed and wounded, have exceeded one million personnel. Ambassador thanked Poland and the EU Member States for their continued support and solidarity with Ukraine.
The speeches were followed by a screening of the Ukrainian film anthology Animals in War, produced by Oleh Kokhan. The film depicts the Russian-Ukrainian war through the lives of animals affected by the conflict.
The event brought together numerous representatives of the diplomatic corps, Pakistani government institutions, and the media.
