#StandwithUkraine and Polish Heritage Days

On May 22, 2022 the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Islamabad organized an event entitled #StandwithUkraine in cooperation with the Embassy of the Czech Republic and the Embassy of Ukraine. The program of the event consisted of a performance by Polish and Czech artists (Ifeoma Ude and Amelie Siba) and an exhibition presenting the 30th Anniversary of Polish-Ukrainian Relations. It was also a part of Polish Heritage Days.

The event was attended by about 120 people representing m.in Pakistani businessmen, academia, media and human rights activists, a large group of diplomatic corps from "like-minded" countries, and the local Polish community. Speeches were delivered by ambassadors of Poland, the Czech Republic, and Ukraine. The main motive was solidarity with Ukraine fighting for freedom. The program began with a moment of silence for the victims of Russian aggression against Ukraine. The Embassy of Ukraine, with the support of the Czech side, also presented a photo exhibition depicting the atrocities of Russian military actions.

It was the first public event in Islamabad aimed at raising awareness of the war in Ukraine. It was linked with the promotion of elements of Polish culture and the achievements of Polish-Ukrainian relations. It was also widely welcomed by participants.
