Poland in Romania

When on 3 May 1791 the Four-Year Sejm also called the Great Sejm adopted The Government Act of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth later known as the Constitution of 3 May, the Polish-Lithuanian state became the Europe’s first and the world’s second that passed the basic law. For its time, it was a progressive and bold legal act which initiated a number of reforms. It also constituted a crowning achievement of the centuries-old links between Poland and Lithuania. Today as we celebrate the 230th anniversary of adopting the Constitution of 3 May by the last King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania Stanisław August Poniatowski, it is worth mentioning that it is the May Constitution that introduced, among other things, the principle of the tripartite separation of power, and reformed the existing political system ensuring more equal treatment of all nationalities within the Commonwealth. The Constitution also expressed the nation’s will to defend Poland’s independence following its first partition by Austria, Prussia and Russia in 1772.

The applications for the Stanisław Moniuszko International Competition of Polish Music can be submitted until 31 May 2021. The second edition of the Stanisław Moniuszko International Competition of Polish Music will be held at the Artur Malawski Podkarpacka Philharmonic in Rzeszów between 11 and 18 September 2021. The participants will contest in two categories: for pianists and for chamber ensembles, with the total prize money exceeding 80,000 euros. The event is organised by the Institute of Music and Dance, and its main financial prizes are funded by the Polish Ministry of Culture, National Heritage and Sport.

On 22-23 April 2021, under the Trilogue format, Minister Zbigniew Rau met in Bucharest with his counterparts from Romania and Turkey, Bogdan Aurescu and Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, respectively. The ministers discussed cooperation within the North Atlantic Alliance, mainly in the context of preparations for the NATO summit in June. The diplomats also talked about the progressing implementation of the Trilogue cooperation programme adopted in 2020 and its possible extension into other thematic areas. They underlined good political and military cooperation of the three countries. “Our countries are the pillars of NATO’s Eastern Flank, standing in the front line of the Alliance and exposed to direct threats to their security,” pointed out Minister Rau, and added: “We agree on the need and the direction of North Atlantic Alliance’s further strategic adaptation, which includes starting work on the new Strategic Concept during next NATO summit.”

A virtual event "Future Health Poland 2021", dedicated to Polish manufacturers of medical equipment and devices, will take place on March 23-25, 2021.

On Friday, March 19, the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland, Maciej Lang, officially presented to dr. Laurenţiu Batin the medal of the Minister of Culture, National Heritage and Sport “Guardian of National Memorial Sites”.
