Poland in Romania

On 10th and 11th of May 2021, the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda paid an official visit to Romania.

The first day of the visit began with the official welcoming ceremony hosted by the Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, followed by a tête-à-tête between the two Presidents. During the plenary talks both delegations discussed the intensification of economic cooperation after the pandemic, security on NATO's eastern flank, as well as regional issues, including Belarus and the Republic of Moldova.

In the afternoon, the B9 Bucharest Summit was co-hosted by the Presidents Andrzej Duda and Klaus Iohannis. The meeting organized in a hybrid format was also attended by the President of the United States, Joe Biden, and the NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg. The heads of state participating in the B9 Summit adopted a joint declaration stating that Russia's aggressive actions threaten Euro-Atlantic security.

During the visit in Bucharest, the President of the Republic of Poland also met with the Prime Minister Florin Cîțu, with whom he discussed the organization of the third bilateral intergovernmental consultations to be held in Warsaw this autumn, as well as with the chairmen of both chambers of the Romanian parliament, Anca Dragu and Ludovic Orban.

On the second day of the visit, the Presidents Andrzej Duda and Klaus Iohannis took part in the multinational military exercise "Justice Sword 21" at the Smârdan Training Area. The exercises were attended by the Polish Military Contingent stationing in Craiova as part of the allied presence on the eastern flank.
