"Alyssa Kok plays Chopin" concert at the Esplande recital studio.

“Chopin’s music is for everybody – it speaks regardless of our language, nationality, age and life circumstances” said Alyssa Kok, the young talented Singaporean pianist at the beginning of the concert organised on October 21 by the Embassy of Poland in Singapore and the Polish Association in Singapore.

Concert, that gathered almost 250 guests including both representatives of diplomatic and Singapore artistic circles as well as music lovers, was a celebration of cultural collaboration, bridging geographical boundaries through the universal language of music and underscored the Embassy's commitment to fostering cross-cultural appreciation and artistic exchange.

Alyssa Kok took part in the special program dedicated exclusively for talented young Polish students, Młoda Muzyczna Akademia, at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, Poland, where she later graduated with a Master of Arts degree in piano performance with flying colours.

Taking the stage at the Esplanade Recital Studio she welcomed the audience both in English and Polish and performed her interpretation of selected timeless works by famous Polish composer. Her choice of demanding repertoire ranged from the Prelude in D minor, Op. 28 No. 24 to the Ballade in G minor, Op. 23, as well as the Andante spianato et Grande Polonaise Op. 22.

The concert was not only a display of Alyssa’s talent, dedication and musical skills but also an opportunity for the pianist to highlight her deep connection with Poland and to share with the audience her experience of studying and living in Poland.

As encore Alyssa played 'Singapore Fantasy' a piece she composed herself on the occasion of Singapore's 58th birthday and which she first premiered last summer in Katowice.
