Poland in Singapore

The reception took place at The Fullerton Bay Hotel and brought together approximately 250 guests, including representatives of Singaporean government institutions, the diplomatic corps, business, academic and cultural communities, as well as members of the Polish community and friends of Poland. The Guest of Honour was Dr Janil Puthucheary, Senior Minister of State at the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment of Singapore. The event was also attended by Małgorzata Gromadzka, Secretary of State at the Polish Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Members of the Polish Parliament Katarzyna Królak and Jarosław Rzepa, as well as Members of the Parliament of Singapore Gho Sze Kee and Joan Pereira. The Polish delegation visited Singapore as part of an economic mission accompanying the Food & Hospitality Asia trade fair.

During their official remarks, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Singapore Tadeusz Chomicki and Dr Janil Puthucheary highlighted the longstanding friendship between Poland and Singapore, as well as the dynamic development of bilateral cooperation in the political, economic, scientific and cultural fields.  In his address, Ambassador Chomicki expressed his sincere appreciation to the Singaporean authorities, institutional partners and guests for their continued support and cooperation. He reaffirmed Poland's commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations and highlighted the growing momentum in bilateral cooperation, particularly in areas such as digital transformation, cybersecurity, innovation, advanced technologies and trade, expressing confidence that these partnerships would continue to develop for the mutual benefit of both nations.

The artistic programme featured a piano recital by Krzysztof Moskalewicz, whose performance of works by Frédéric Chopin and the Southeast Asian piece Dayung Sampan symbolically reflected the cultural dialogue between Poland and Singapore.

A key element of the reception was the promotion of Polish culinary heritage. The menu was created by Chef Sebastian Kornacki in cooperation with the Taste Europe programme, presenting a contemporary interpretation of Polish cuisine while showcasing the high quality of European food products. The celebration also featured three exhibitions. The first, dedicated to the historic visit of Singapore's founding Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew to Warsaw in May 1966, was prepared to mark the 60th anniversary of the visit and highlighted the origins of Polish–Singaporean relations and the historical foundations of today's bilateral partnership. The second exhibition explored the significance of the Constitution of 3 May for Poland's statehood and democratic heritage. Complementing the programme was an exhibition of watercolours by Polish artist Berenika Drążewska, presenting contemporary Polish art and contributing to the promotion of Polish culture abroad.
