Official Visit of the President of the Republic of Poland and the First Lady to Singapore

13.06.2025

On 12-13 June 2025, the President of the Republic of Poland, H.E. Mr. Andrzej Duda, accompanied by the First Lady, Mrs. Agata Kornhauser-Duda, paid an official state visit to the Republic of Singapore at the invitation of President Tharman Shanmugaratnam.

Official Welcome Ceremony at the Singapore Parliament

The primary objectives of the visit were to deepen bilateral ties, expand cooperation in strategic areas such as trade, investment, innovation, defence and cybersecurity, and to promote Poland as a dynamic, forward-looking partner for the countries of Southeast Asia.

President Duda held official talks with President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. Discussions focused on enhancing economic cooperation, facilitating mutual investment, and broadening collaboration in advanced technologies, including digital transformation, defence innovation, and green energy. The Polish Head of State also congratulated the Singaporean leadership on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the country’s independence, commending Singapore’s remarkable achievements in nation-building, technological development, and regional leadership.

On 13 June, President Duda took part in the Poland–Singapore Business Forum, attended by government officials, representatives of major economic agencies, and business leaders from both countries. In his keynote address, the President emphasized Poland’s position as the fastest-growing economy in Central and Eastern Europe, a key member of the European Union, and a gateway for Asian companies to enter the European market. He invited Singaporean partners to explore opportunities in sectors such as smart manufacturing, food security, defence technology, logistics, and digital infrastructure.

In the framework of the visit, President Duda held strategic business meetings with the leadership of two major Singaporean enterprises: PSA International – one of the world’s largest port operators – and ST Engineering, a global technology and defence conglomerate. Both meetings provided a platform to explore new avenues for cooperation in maritime logistics, aerospace, cybersecurity, and dual-use technologies, including potential joint ventures and technology transfers.

As part of the public diplomacy outreach, President Duda gave an exclusive interview to CNA (Channel NewsAsia), one of Singapore’s leading news broadcasters. President discussed Poland’s commitment to building strong partnerships in Southeast Asia, the country’s rapidly growing innovation ecosystem, and the strategic importance of fostering secure and reliable trade relationships in an increasingly interconnected world.

Another highlight of the visit was the ceremonial naming of a newly cultivated orchid at Singapore’s National Orchid Garden — an honour traditionally extended to distinguished visiting leaders. The orchid was named in tribute to President Andrzej Duda and the First Lady, symbolizing the warm and growing relationship between Poland and Singapore.

Following the ceremony, President and First Lady met with the representatives of the Polish community in Singapore.
