24.02.2025
On February 24, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Singapore, in cooperation with the Delegation of the European Union and the Embassy of Ukraine, organized the event "One Voice for Ukraine" to mark the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine and reaffirmed Europe’s commitment to defending Ukraine’s sovereignty and freedom.
The "One Voice for Ukraine" ceremony was the only public (though invitation-only) event in Singapore commemorating Russia’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine.
During the event, speeches were delivered by the Chargé d’Affaires of Poland, Tadeusz Chomicki, the EU Ambassador, Iwona Piórko, and the Ambassador of Ukraine, Kateryna Zelenko. They all underscored the necessity of upholding international law and the United Nations Charter in the pursuit of a just resolution to the war in Ukraine.
Polish diplomat highlighted Poland’s unwavering support for Ukraine and its commitment to defending democracy, human rights, and international norms. He acknowledged Singapore’s principled stance against violations of international law and norms in interstate relations. Referring to Poland’s Presidency of the EU Council under the motto “Security, Europe!”, he stressed that the European Union must ensure the safety of its citizens while supporting its neighbors—because without a secure Ukraine, there can be no secure Europe.
Attendees of the event also had the opportunity to view the powerful photo exhibition Eyes of War, organized by the Polish Press Club with the support of Poland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The evening concluded with a special screening of the war drama People by Polish directors Maciej Ślesicki and Filip Hillesland, telling the story of five women in Ukraine desperately fighting to protect themselves and their loved ones in the midst of war.
The event gathered over 200 guests, including representatives of diplomatic, cultural, educational, and business circles, as well as youth organizations and members of the Polish and Ukrainian communities and local media.
The event was covered by the Chinese-language daily Lianhe Zaobao. The article, that was published in their newspaper the following day, in addition to covering the event, includes a summary of an interview with Polish war correspondent Wojciech Grzędziński, whose photographs were part of the exhibition.
