The 4th edition of the Polish Festival in Singapore PolandSHIOK and 2nd Polish Film Festival in Singapore opened officially with a premiere of "Corpus Christi" - 2020 Academy Award Nominee by Jan Komasa, screened at The Projector Cinema on 2nd September. The movie audience was welcomed by Ambassador of Poland to Singapore Magdalena Bogdziewicz who in her video message touched upon the achievements of Polish cinematography and creative industries, highlighting an image of Poland as a modern country with a rich cultural, educational and business offer.

About the festival programme, she said “This year, marked by COVID-19 pandemic and lockdowns that confined us at home, we learned to resort to culture to find solace, distraction and entertainment. Our selection focuses on family and universal human values, society and crossing cultural barriers.” The festival consists of the theatrical release of Corpus Christi and two movies on demand: The Taste of Pho directed by Mariko Bobrik and These Daughters of Mine by Kinga Dębska hosted on The Projector Plus streaming platform.

Polish Film Festival is a part of Poland SHIOK 2020 and one of the key elements of its cultural component. Poland SHIOK comes back from September to November 2020 for its 4th edition with a renewed array of mostly digital but also offline events and attractions to bring Poland closer to Singapore. Main blocks of Poland SHIOK 2020 will include art and culture: the film festival as well as virtual events and exhibitions presenting famous Polish composers Fryderyk Chopin and Krzysztof Penderecki and Pope John Paul II; culinary promotions at local restaurants, online cooking shows and business seminars; virtual sightseeing of Polish cities and nature; as well as presentation of education options at the Study in Europe digital fair. The new element of Poland SHIOK 2020 is a presentation of Polish award-winning video games industry which ties with the widely awaited global launch of Cyberpunk 2077 game in November 2020.

The festival programme is available at its digital platforms: polandshiok.sg, FB and IG @PolandSHIOK with more events to be added in the next weeks.
