The detainee worked in the archives of Warsaw’s registry office. Besides, he had access to the records of two other general archives of Poland’s capital city. Given the nature of documents kept by those units, the activity of the suspect posed a threat to both internal and external security of Poland.

In a series of searches conducted by the officers of the ABW, an extensive body of evidence has been secured which is now being analyzed.

Based on the findings of the Agency, the prosecution office has launched an investigation into the suspect’s involvement in the activities of a foreign intelligence service and providing it with information that can bring harm to Poland. The ABW has been vested with conducting the entire investigation.

The detained Pole heard charges of espionage and has been remanded in custody for the period of three months. This case is of an evolving nature.
