The man was detained on 11 July 2022 in the Silesian Voivodeship, southern Poland. The ABW officers searched also sites in different regions of Poland, connected to Jarosław A. and other individuals involved, which the detainee intended to use in the scope of his cooperation with the Russian intelligence.

In the course of investigation, the evidence has been gathered indicating that the suspect expected to receive both financial advantage and help in eliminating his enemies. Profiting from his acquaintances, he planned to transfer a wide range of information to the Russians, including data concerning security and defence of Poland. He was also ready to carry out on the territory of Poland other tasks commissioned by the foreign intelligence. The suspect was aware of an illegal character of the undertaken actions, targeted at a long-term cooperation with the Russian intelligence.

The prosecutor charged Jarosław A. under article 130, paragraph 3, of the Polish penal code, that is with signalling readiness to operate to the advantage of a foreign intelligence against the Republic of Poland. The man pleaded guilty and submitted extensive explanations. At the request of the Prosecutor’s Office, the court decided to remand Jarosław A. in custody for the period of three months.
