Reinstatement of Internal Security Agency Delegations

01.07.2024

From 1 July 2024, by decision of Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Internal Security Agency delegations were reinstated in Bydgoszcz, Kraków, Łódź, Olsztyn, Opole, Radom, Rzeszów, Szczecin, Wrocław and Zielona Góra.

Reinstatement of Internal Security Agency Delegations

The PiS government’s 2017 decision to close ten delegations had a negative impact on the Agency’s effectiveness and weakened the Polish state’s ability to counter internal security threats. Contrary to expectations, it brought neither savings nor task optimisation. Its sole effect was a serious weakening of personnel and organisational structures, which affected the quality of tasks carried out.

The re-establishment of delegations is the government’s response to the current challenges faced by the security services, but above all aims to strengthen Poland’s counterintelligence protection.
