It was introduced by a resolution 73/296 adopted unanimously by the UN General Assembly on 28th of May 2019. The idea of a resolution establishing the International Day was put forward by Poland.

15.07.2021The Human Rights Council held its 47th session from June 21 to July 14 in Geneva. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the meetings of the Council were conducted almost entirely in a virtual form. The 47th session was the fifth in which Poland served as a Council member.

12.07.2021The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Poland to the United Nations Office and the international organizations in Vienna, ambassador Dominika Krois, has been elected as President of the IDB taking place between 12-15 July 2021.

24.06.2021On 24 June 2021, Professor Michał Balcerzak of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń was elected member of the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD) by a majority of 135 votes, during the 29th meeting of the state parties of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, which was held in the UN’s New York headquarters.
